The Basics
Based out of Pacific Palisades, California, Spero House is a luxury sober living for women in early recovery. The program is designed primarily for those transitioning out of residential treatment looking for a step down housing option while continuing with outpatient therapy. As a luxury facility, Spero House offers a blend of independent living and therapeutic support.
Accommodations and Amenities
The house itself is a cozy and well-appointed home with a total of eight beds in primarily shared bedrooms. All rooms come with full to queen-sized beds, comforters, decorative carpets, dressers and shared closet space. Each bedroom also comes with its own LCD television and WiFi. Spero House is also equipped with shared living areas with cable TV, a meditation room, a self-help library, a dining room and a spacious kitchen. Unlike many sober living facilities, breakfast and lunch foods are provided as well as snacks; residents are expected to cook their own meals.
Rules and Regulations
As with many sober living programs, all clients are required to adhere to basic house behavioral contract and to submit to regular and random drug testing three times a week. Throughout their stay, residents are also expected to pursue further education, get a full-time job, volunteer or attend an outpatient therapy program.
Clients are also welcome to bring their pets with them to treatment. Like many similar facilities, residents are also expected to respect other clients’ belongings, to keep common areas clean and do some basic chores.
Finally, they are also required to attend weekly house meetings, process groups, morning meditations and nightly check-ins with staff. Though 12-step participation is not always required, attending self-help groups outside of treatment is strongly encouraged.
Extras
Spero House also facilitates flexible vocational counseling as necessary and mentorship services to help clients with whatever life challenges they may be facing. Other perks include guest lectures at the house, fresh-pressed juices made from fruits and vegetables taken from an on-site organic garden and an array of transportation services. All residents are also given temporary gym memberships during their stay. Yoga classes are included in the program; massage therapy and personal training are also available for an additional fee. Clients also take group outings together on a rotating basis.

Overall, Spero House is a well-appointed sober living home for women with a wide range of supplementary services. In addition to providing a safe place to stay sober, clients are also treated to an array of bonuses including some prepared meals, fresh juices, yoga classes and flexible counseling and guidance. For women in the area looking for a safe, structured setting in early recovery, Spero House is definitely a viable option.
