The Basics

Located in the San Fernando Valley town of Tarzana, Peace by Piece Treatment Center is a highly individualized residential treatment facility for men and women struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Founded in 2016, its programming draws from a wide range of treatment modalities to address addiction on every level. Peace by Piece is a relatively new but sure to be impactful addition to Southern California’s luxury rehab scene.

Accommodations and Food

Set away from the bustle of Los Angeles, Peace by Piece offers a truly privatized experience, with a total of just six beds available in men’s and women’s quarters on opposite sides of the compound. Each bedroom comes with full to queen-sized beds, dressers and closet space. Each gender-specific wing has one shared room and one private room available for an additional fee. The separated living quarters also come with their own attached private communal areas with cable TV. Other amenities include therapy rooms, outdoor areas, yoga studios and a fully-equipped kitchen and juice bar.

Residents are served lunch and dinner by on-site chefs with the help of a nutritionist. Breakfast is served in a more continental style. The facility is also sugar-free, with the exception of naturally occurring sugars in fruit and select other items.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning treatment, all incoming clients undergo an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. Those who need to detox can do so on-site before continuing on to therapy. Programs typically last for 30 days, seven to 10 of which can be spent in detox. While the specifics of each plan may vary, all of them include individual and group therapy implementing evidence-based practices including CBT and DBT, though other modalities are available depending on the therapist. Dual diagnosis support is also available including medication management.

Days begin with breakfast and a morning reflection before group at 9 am. After that comes a course of individual therapy as well as holistic sessions such as yoga, massage or time with a personal trainer before lunch at noon. Another group follows at 1 pm with downtime in the afternoon to work on individual assignments. An evening group runs from 4 to 5:30 pm followed by dinner. Those not in the detox phase of care can also attend an off-site recovery meeting after dinner. Clients can choose their preferred peer-support group—AA/NA, SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery or any other suitable program. Weekends are more relaxed with two group sessions, an outing on Saturday and family visitation and therapy from 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

The well-rounded staff at Peace by Piece Treatment Center consists of LMFTs, psychologists, MDs, nutritionists and additional Master’s-level therapists.

Extras

Neurofeedback, music therapy and acupuncture can also be incorporated into a client’s treatment plan. Other extras include an on-site juice bar with nutritional and healthy ingredients that help boost diets, especially during detox. Because the facility has its own garden on-site, all food and ingredients are fresh and GMO-free. For cash-only clients, Peace by Piece also has an attached private guesthouse which can be rented out for a more privatized experience. Upon treatment completion, staff members can help alums extensively with discharge and aftercare planning.

In Summary

Peace by Piece Treatment Center provides comprehensive treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders with a highly individualized approach. Treatment draws upon evidence-based practices but also accounts for the positive impact of holistic approaches including exercise, recreational therapies, yoga, a healthy diet and supplements and relaxation-based techniques. Peace by Piece Treatment Center offers a serene, safe and luxurious environment for clients to establish a solid foundation of sobriety and begin the road to long-term recovery.
