Beach House RecoveryThe Basics

Beach House Recovery was founded in 2016 by Susan Bowling and Erin Workman, both experienced professionals in the counseling and recovery industries, to provide beachfront sober living for women in Playa Del Rey, an affluent waterfront community in Los Angeles, California. Beach House prides itself on creating a highly engaged community that embraces clients’ families and provides extensive support to help them achieve professional and educational goals.

Accommodations and Amenities

The Beach House residence is right on the shore. Only eight women reside in the modern home, which features polished white floors and chrome fixtures. Most clients have roommates, though singles are available for an additional fee.

Beach House provides groceries for the house, including organic fruits, vegetables and meats and pantry staples. Residents also have a section of the kitchen for storing personal food items.

The Beach House residence is stocked with beach equipment, including surf boards and bicycles, and a beach yoga class is offered each week. Workman and Bowling are at the residence daily to provide support and resources, such as help with resumes and job searches, and a licensed RN is on call 24/7. Residents are allowed to bring vehicles but Beach House also provides transportation for shopping and 12-step meetings.

Rules and Regulations

All residents have rotating chore assignments. Clients must be awake by 8:30 am each day and back at the residence by 11 pm on weekdays and 12 am on weekends.

Clients are asked to make an initial commitment of 90 days to the residence and can then stay up to 18 months. In their first 30 days, they must attend six peer support meetings each week (usually AA/NA, SMART Recovery or Refuge Recovery). After the first 30 days, they must attend five per week.

Extras

Residents can meet with a nutritionist for meal planning consultations for an additional fee.

Family members can visit on Sundays and additional visits for children can be arranged throughout the week. Beach House also hosts a family Beach Day for moms in recovery in the community each month.

In Summary

Beach House Recovery is a new addition to the Los Angeles recovery community. Its experienced owners have created a comforting upscale waterfront home that provides residents with a high level of support for setting and achieving professional goals. The home welcomes residents’ children and encourages clients to heal through improving their nutrition and engaging in all the outdoor activities Southern California has to offer.
