The Basics
NuLife Treatment Centers, located in Los Angeles, California, offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and standard outpatient treatment as a step down option from its luxury residential treatment. These programs are individualized and offer dual diagnosis support, as well as individual and group therapy. NuLife was founded by entrepreneurs Kage Njaka and JD Meints, who were inspired by personal experiences to create an alternative to the traditional treatment experience. NuLife’s treatment continuum is client-centered and treats the causes and conditions of addiction rather than just the symptoms of the disease. NuLife’s outpatient program utilizes evidence-based therapy methods in addition to holistic treatment techniques.
Treatment and Staff
Outpatient treatment takes place at NuLife’s clinical facility in Calabasas. Treatment begins with an in-depth assessment followed up by placement is the most effective program track. Generally clients are coming to the facility after time in a residential program and are placed in IOP. The IOP runs three days or evenings a week for about six weeks. Once clients complete their goals in the IOP, stepping down to the standard outpatient program, which is individualized in terms of frequency and length of the program, is a common option.
Programming can be customized to accommodate the client’s work or school schedule, and include one individual session per week and several process group sessions. Treatment focuses on developing coping skills and tools for living clean and sober. There are a variety of therapy options offered including CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness approaches and 12-step philosophies. There are also holistic therapeutic methods offered like experiential and music therapy. Clients are given info on local 12-step and SMART Recovery meetings.
The NuLife team includes LCSWs, MFTs, a consulting psychiatrist and other therapists who are intern-level practitioners in process of receiving their licenses.
Extras
NuLife has an extensive music therapy program and outpatient clients have some access to the recording studio at the main residential facility. Clients can write, perform and record their own songs. A studio engineer guides them in the process. The result is at least one original CD a year. All proceeds of the album sales go toward the HARP Foundation, which runs NuLife.
In Summary
The outpatient treatment through NuLife Treatment Centers is impressive, not to mention cutting edge and in a great location. This is an excellent choice for flexible outpatient care that treats the whole person.
