Okanogan Behavioral Health OMAKThe Basics

Okanogan Behavioral Healthcare is a mental health services provider based in Omak, Washington. Located in a small town in the foothills of the Okanogan Mountains, OBHC was established in July 2002. A new facility was built in 2006 to accommodate a multitude of services including substance abuse treatment. OBHC provides outpatient treatment in conjunction with the Shove House, a sober living home reserved for clients who are homeless or low income. Educational courses, deferred prosecution and employee assistance programs are also available for clients in need of additional recovery, legal and employment services.

Treatment and Staff

All potential clients are evaluated by a chemical dependency professional to determine an accurate assessment. A case manager creates an individualized treatment treatment plan based on income and recovery needs. All clients who qualify are enrolled in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) with the option to move into Shove House sober living in cases of homelessness or financial hardship.

The IOP track consists of 72 hours of education and group therapy with a CADC. Typical length of treatment duration is 30 days. Clients can attend treatment classes and groups at the OBHC facility Monday through Friday, from early morning through afternoon. In addition, they receive weekly individual therapy to address specific concerns. All clients are also randomly drug-tested during their treatment to ensure abstinence.

IOP groups have 30-day sessions scheduled throughout the year, with an average of 12 sessions annually. Interim services are available for qualified clients who seek treatment between session. All interim and enrolled clients are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings to develop a support network in the community.

For clients facing legal issues, OBHC provides a two-year extended IOP. All clients report to their parole officers and fulfill court-ordered obligations during their enrollment. An alcohol and drug information school group is a one-time course that is eight to 12 hours long. Clients have the option to attend this course in both English and Spanish.

Extras

Clients who have completed OBHC treatment have the option to participate in an aftercare program with both evening and daytime groups available to accommodate work and life obligations. Groups focus on relapse prevention to help those in early recovery maintain sobriety.

In Summary

Okanogan Behavioral Healthcare provides IOP, sober living and aftercare for individuals in need of treatment for alcohol and drug abuse regardless of their financial limitations. With deferred prosecution and educational courses as well as payment assistance programs, OBHC is committed to supporting those in the Omak area who are struggling with substance abuse. Using traditional group and individual therapeutic methods as well as encouraging involvement in 12-step fellowships, OBHC provides a proven, evidence-based program.
