The Basics

Grassroots Treatment Center is a gender-specific substance abuse treatment organization for men located in West Palm Beach, Florida. Its helps men struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. The facility offers clinical services in an office environment with several options for outpatient care. These include a basic and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Grassroots also has a business professionals track and a “Florida style” day and night treatment program, similar to a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) with a sober living option.

Treatment and Staff

Grassroots Treatment Center dos not provide detox, but clients requiring these services can be provided with a referral. The facility offers exclusively individualized programs, so the total length of treatment can vary per client. Those with co-occurring disorders receive psychological support and medication management. The “day and night” program consists of structured living in one of four sober living homes and clinical care, Mondays through Fridays, for six hours. The men in this program have several group sessions a day, at least one individual session a week as well as required AA/NA meetings. The IOP is designed as a step-down and meets nine hours a week for group therapy and at least one individual session. The outpatient program is available only to graduates of IOP and entails one individual session a week.

Therapy methods in all programs include psychoeducation, CBT, DBT and relapse prevention. Therapy addresses medical history, psychological issues, family, career and educational goals. Case management staff assists clients in finding employment or continuing their education.

The staff is made up of Master’s-level therapists whose credentials include LPC, CADC and LCSW.

Extras

The business professionals track caters to doctors, lawyers and high-level executives. It is sensitive to the needs to manage professional priorities while working towards recovery. This program offers flexible evening sessions and a primary group that is limited to only nine fellow executives.

The four upscale sober living homes have space for a total of 18 male clients, with the men separated by where they are in the program. Clients reside in semi-private bedrooms are furnished with twin beds, closets, luxurious bedding and all linens. Shared bathrooms contain tubs and showers. Some of the homes include pools and other outdoor spaces to socialize. Residents are responsible for shopping for groceries and preparing their own meals.
