Teensavers Outpatient

The Basics

Teensavers is a substance abuse treatment facility for youth between the ages of 12 and 16 in Orange, California. Teensavers was created by Tim Chapman, who is also the director and founder of Chapman House, a rehab for adults and an addiction counselor. Teensavers offers detox, residential treatment and outpatient care for substance abuse with education services. Teensavers treats young clients in a home-like atmosphere using evidence-based methods in both group and individual therapy settings.

Treatment and Staff

Upon arrival, clients are assessed by an intake counselor for their required level of care. Outpatient programs are available for those whose parents prefer they live at home during treatment or who have completed the residential program. Individuals who require dual diagnosis support receive additional care to attend to their specific needs. Average treatment length is 60 to 90 days, but is ultimately determined by the client’s progress.

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) runs Mondays through Fridays for six hours a day and includes group and individual therapy. After about two weeks, clients usually move to the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which requires around nine hours per week of sessions, along with off-site AA/NA meetings. The final outpatient phase of treatment depends on the client’s individualized treatment plan. Group therapy is based mainly in 12-step principles and evidence-based practices. Topics include management, relapse prevention, coping skills, codependency and psychoeducation. The staff includes a consulting psychologist and medical doctor, CADCs and CSWs.

Extras

A family program focuses on the education of the family unit. Family therapy sessions are available as well.
