Tampa Crossroads Rose Manor ResidentialThe Basics

Tampa Crossroads is a non-profit, CARF-accredited recovery service program with locations Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco Counties in Florida. First founded in in 1977 by Sister Rosa Christina Momm, it has grown from a housing assistance program to a full service substance abuse treatment program. In addition to outpatient services, it also offers Rose Manor, a residential treatment program for women.

Accommodations and Food

Tampa Crossroad’s Rose Manor is housed in a 113-year old Queen Ann Victorian mansion that can accommodate up to 18 women. There are two clients to a bedroom while all clients share the home’s four bathrooms. There is also bedroom that can accommodate two mothers with newborn babies. Common living space includes a large living room, kitchen, dining room, deck and backyard with a designated smoking area. The residence has one TV in the living room that clients are permitted to watch after 6 pm. Clients are not permitted to use personal cell phones or electronic devices and there is no Internet or access to a computer. A facility phone at certain hours and visitation is permitted on the weekends.

Wake up is at 8 am. Clients are expected to secure employment while in treatment and hence leave the residence each day to go to work. In addition, clients participate in daily household chores such as gardening. Meals are designed by a dietitian and prepared by the clients under supervision. Though sugar and caffeine are allowed, the low fat menu has no red meat and features a weekly vegetarian meal.

Treatment and Staff

Length of treatment can range from one to eight months. It includes evidence-based practices like CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Seeking Safety. Clients can expect dual diagnosis support, when applicable, and individual and group therapy. Tampa Crossroads does not include 12-step in its treatment program but does implement SMART Recovery. Detox services and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) are not offered.

Treatment and frequency of individual and group sessions is highly individualized. While not in work, clients attend individual and group sessions based on their treatment needs. Group topics include stress and anger management, anxiety, psychological trauma, PTSD and dual diagnosis issues.

The 12-member staff includes a clinical director, a psychologist, CDACs and support staff.

Extras

Rose Manor provides transportation to off-site yoga, a gym and an equestrian farm. The grounds include a gazebo and gardens maintained by the clients. Weekend activities include hosting BBQs and picnics. Clients can also access Tampa Crossroad’s veterans, vocational and housing placement services.

This supportive and nurturing environment is a great fit for clients are seeking an alternative to 12-step meetings. Rose Manor offers clients the opportunity to gain confidence through independent living and regular employment while providing a safety net of structure and regular individualized treatment.
