NorthEastThe Basics

Active for over 25 years, NorthEast Washington Alliance Counseling Services provides mental healthcare and various forms of outpatient chemical dependency treatment for adolescents and adults. Of its four locations in rural Stevens County, threeColville, Chewelah and Republicprovide chemical dependency treatment in office and hospital settings.

Treatment and Staff

Clients initially meet with a counselor for an assessment of their needs and finances. NorthEast’s services include individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication management and psychological and psychiatric evaluations. Chemical dependency treatment is for individuals age 12 and older.

NorthEast offers three forms of outpatient treatment with all individual and group sessions lasting approximately two hours. Group sessions contain no more than 12 clients, though they are typically hover around eight or nine clients.

NorthEast’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) consists of 12 weeks of group therapy. IOP clients attend three group meetings per week. Weekly outpatient treatment is 26 weeks of group or individual therapy, occurring just once per week. A less intensive outpatient group meets for 15 weeks once a month. Attendance at 12-step programming is highly encouraged but there are no rules mandating clients attend  meetings unless they are court ordered.

A team of five counselors run sessions at NorthEast. They all have Master’s-level degrees in social work, counseling or a related field. The majority are certified by the state of Washington, which means they have a Master’s degree and have completed two years of post-graduate work under the supervision of another qualified professional.

Extras

Services are offered on a sliding scale, depending on clients’ income, but fees can be as little as $10 per session.

NorthEast provides crisis care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, that includes psychiatric evaluations.

In Summary

With decades of experience and a staff of highly qualified professionals, NorthEast provides safe and structured treatment to clients. The three options for outpatient enable clients to easily move from one program to the next and, if they ever need it, crisis care is offered around the clock.
