Twin Falls County Treatment and Recovery Clinic (TARC) is a state-funded outpatient treatment program in Twin Falls, Idaho. Established by the state in 2004 to treat adolescent substance use, the facility expanded in 2008 to treat adults as well. Its holistic approach toward recovery includes mental health, trauma, stress management and family counseling.

Treatment and Staff

TARC is a clinical facility that offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard outpatient treatment to 180 clients. Its programs include dual diagnosis support and trauma-informed care. Utilizing both individual and group counseling, myriad therapeutic approaches like Matrix Model, DBT, MRT, Cognitive Behavioral Intervention – Substance Abuse (CBI-SA), EMDR, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Adlerian Therapy and Restorative Conferencing are employed. Twelve-step is not included but TARC is supportive of clients attending programs outside of treatment. Those in need of detox are referred to outside facilities.

The frequency of individual therapy is based on the needs of the client. There are separate groups for adolescents and adults, as well as low and moderate/high risk clients. Groups are generally mixed gender but gender-specific trauma groups are offered.

Length of treatment ranges from six to nine months for IOP and three to six months for standard outpatient treatment. IOP clients generally attend nine hours of treatment a week while standard outpatient clients attend six hours of treatment a week.

The mixed gender staff includes four case managers, eight CADCs, a CSW and LSWs and support staff. The staff-to-client ratio is one-to-30.

Extras

TARC offers two aftercare groups a month for clients who have completed treatment. Its family program includes counseling, group decision-making and education.

TARC can also facilitate transportation, drug testing, case management and life skills education.
