The Basics
Richmond Treatment Center is located in Richmond, Indiana, a mid-sized city in the East-central region on the state. Since 1998, RTC has offered outpatient Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addicts. It currently offers treatment using methadone, Subutex, Suboxone and Vivitrol. RTC also requires clients to attend group and individual therapy while they’re in treatment. The clinic is a member of the Acadia treatment network, which operates a number of outpatient and residential facilities throughout the United States and United Kingdom.
Treatment and Staff
After clients are assessed, they and the treatment team decide which course of MAT they’re best-suited for: methadone or Subutex, Vivitrol or Suboxone. During their first 90 days of treatment, clients must attend group and individual therapy twice a month. After 90 days of successful treatment, they may reduce therapy to once a month and apply for take-home doses of their medication.
Therapy uses CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), DBT and the Thinking for Change curriculum. Groups address grief, relationships, relapse prevention and health and wellness. There are also gender-specific groups available for both men and women.
RTC’s treatment team is made up of physicians, nurses and CADCs. Counselors address co-occurring disorders in individual and group therapy but refer clients in need of comprehensive dual diagnosis support to nearby mental health clinics. RTC encourages clients to attend peer support meetings such as NA and directs clients to a local Methadone Anonymous meeting.
RTC hopes that all clients will eventually not need MAT, and it works with them to create a treatment plan that culminates in tapering. However, clients are not pressured to taper on any set time-line.
Extras
RTC provides a parenting skills class. It also can provide Vivitrol treatment to clients transitioning from an inpatient program.
In Summary
Richmond Treatment Center offers several options for MAT for opioid addicts. In addition, it provides many processing and education groups each week, using a wide range of modalities, enabling clients to find the treatment techniques that inspire them to effectively manage their addiction.
