The Basics

Just 15 minutes north of Albany, St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, New York, is a full-service hospital and a member of Trinity Health. Aside from providing a range of primary healthcare needs, it also offers inpatient treatment for chemical dependency, including a medical detox, if necessary.

Accommodations and Food

The substance abuse unit consists of 30 total beds; 20 for inpatient care and 10 for detox. Both private and shared rooms are available with basic, clinical accommodations. Throughout treatment, residents are provided three cafeteria-style meals a day.

Treatment and Staff

Upon intake, clients undergo an initial assessment and work with staff members to develop an individualized treatment plan. As mentioned, those in need of detox before beginning treatment can do so on site. Once stabilized, clients begin individual and group therapy that employs evidence-based practices, such as CBT and DBT. While 12-step participation is not required, residents are encouraged to attend meetings. Support for co-occurring disorders, including medication management, is also available.

Staff includes MDs, RNs, psychologists, LMHCs, LMSWs, CASACs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.

Extras

Clients interested in aftercare are referred to outpatient programs they can attend at a stepped-down rate.
