The Basics
Manchester Comprehensive Treatment Center has been in operation for over 15 years and provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addicts using Suboxone and methadone. Manchester CTC also requires clients to participate in group and individual therapy while receiving their medication doses.
The clinic is located in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire, one of Northern New England’s largest cities. Manchester CTC is a member of the Acadia treatment network, which operates a number of outpatient and residential facilities throughout the United States and United Kingdom.
Treatment and Staff
After clients are assessed, they and the treatment team decide which course of MAT best suits their needs: methadone or Suboxone. Clients then receive a dosing schedule which includes a plan for applying for take-home doses once they’ve successfully participated in treatment for several weeks. Clients must also participate in group therapy at least once a week for the entire duration of their treatment. Clients are also scheduled for individual therapy as-needed.
Manchester CTC’s treatment team is made up of physicians, nurses and Master’s-level therapists such as Mental Health Counselors (MHCs). Counselors often use CBT to explore mental health and addiction, handling triggers and relapse prevention. Gender-specific groups are available for men and women, as well. Counselors address co-occurring disorders in individual and group therapy but refer clients in need of comprehensive dual diagnosis support to nearby mental health clinics. Manchester CTC encourages clients to attend peer support meetings such as NA if they think it would be helpful, and it hosts a weekly Methadone Anonymous meeting on-site.
Manchester CTC hopes that all of its clients will eventually not need MAT, and it works with them to create a treatment plan that culminates in tapering. However, clients are not pressured to taper on any set time-line.
Extras
Manchester CTC hosts a weekly parenting group and offers family counseling sessions in the afternoon.
In Summary
Manchester Comprehensive Treatment Center has been helping residents of northern New England combat their opiate addiction for over a decade. It serves the entire family, through parenting classes and counseling sessions, ensuring that clients learn not only how to manage their own addiction but also how to care for the others impacted by it.
