The Basics
Based out of Traverse City and Kalkaska, Michigan, Nexus Family Services is a non-profit, outpatient counseling facility that offers flexible treatment for addiction and mental health. Its programs cater to adults and families—both court-ordered and self-referred.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial assessment, clients work with staff members to develop an individualized plan that combines individual, group and family therapy using evidence-based practices, such as CBT and Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT). Groups address the disease model of addiction, anger management and coping with anxiety and depression. Though not strictly required, clients are strongly encouraged to attend off-site 12-step meetings to supplement their treatment.
Staff consists of LPCs, CADCs, MSWs and other Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Aftercare is offered in the form of stepped-down treatment. Additional services include Department of Transportation (DOT) evaluations and driver’s license assessments; counseling for sexual dysfunctions and sex offenders.
