Hemet CaliforniaThe Basics

The West Coast Treatment Center opened its doors in 2014, in Hemet, California. Hemet is in the San Jacinto Valley, about halfway between LA and Palm Springs. The West Coast Treatment Center offers a 30 to 45-day Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for substance abuse as well as outpatient services and detox. Treatment consists of living in luxury structured housing and daily transport to the office, where therapy happens. Care primarily utilizes evidence-based group therapy and also offers dual-diagnosis support for co-occurring disorders. West Coast Treatment Center collaborates with nearby Mountainside Recovery Center for some of its treatments offerings.

Accommodations and Food

The West Coast Treatment Center houses clients in different homes, divided by gender and age. Each home has different features that set it apart but all have their own living and dining room and outdoor areas, including: a pool, hot tub, pool table, mini golf course and gardens. Clients may have a private room or share with one to three others, depending on room availability and how far along each client is in recovery.

Lunch and dinner are included in the cost of stay prepared and provided, while breakfast is prepared by the clients using food purchased by the facility. Clients are also given $75 per week in credit for groceries, snacks or any extra approved supplies.

Treatment and Staff

Those who are accepted to West Coast Treatment Center start with a three to 10-day medically-monitored detox. Once clients are stable, they transition to the program proper. A typical day begins at eight am with breakfast at the house, after which clients are transported to treatment, which includes group and individual sessions, as well as educational classes throughout the day. Other therapeutic offerings include a guided meditation group, exercise, DBT, EMDR, dual-diagnosis support and relapse prevention classes. Clients have their lunch at the treatment facility then taken back to the house around 4:30 pm where they may have some down time, such as watching TV, movies or reading, before and after dinner. On weekends clients may take part in further fun activities.

Clients that step down to outpatient treatment move off-site and are set up with a case manager and a therapist They continue with individual and group sessions at a less intensive frequency.

West Coast Treatment Center employs five Master’s-level or higher therapists and a clinical director.

Extras

Clients are taken to the store to pick out snacks weekly and have barbecues on Sundays. Clients may opt to take part in a virtual, family distance therapy program to work on issues with loved ones who are too far to attend in-site sessions.

In Summary

As a self-proclaimed high end facility, the West Coast Treatment Center PHP tends to be waitlisted. While West Coast Treatment Center refers to its program as a PHP, really the intensiveness of it matches up quite well with that of any decent residential treatment program, as does it pricing. The only thing that is not included in the cost of stay would be any necessary prescriptions and add-ons during activities, like popcorn and snacks at movie outings.
