The Basics
Renew Counseling Center, Inc. was founded in 2002 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the home of Fort Bragg, a large military base. The organization offers outpatient treatment services to adult men and women struggling with substance abuse.
Treatment and Staff
Clients interested in Renew initially undergo a phone assessment with one of the organization’s intake coordinators to determine if the individual is a good fit for the program. Counselors then meet with potential clients to chart out a treatment schedule. Renew refers clients who are in need of residential treatment or detox to outside providers.
Renew offers both a regular outpatient treatment program as well as an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). The treatment in both programs consists of a mixture of both group and individual counseling. The IOP generally lasts for 16 weeks and meets three to four times a week, while the outpatient program meets one to two times a week and has a flexible length. Counselors at Renew use a variety of treatment techniques including CBT, relapse prevention, education and sharing. The group meetings also incorporate life skills, anger management, disease management, and crisis and trauma therapy. The sessions generally have between ten to 15 clients and are offered in the day and evening, during the week as well as on Saturdays. Individual therapy is scheduled based on the needs of the client. Clients are also regularly drug and alcohol tested while in treatment.
Although Renew is not 12-step based, clients are encouraged to attend outside AA and NA meetings in the community.
The organization is dual diagnosis and offers individual sessions with a mental health counselor for clients with potential co-occurring disorders.
Renew’s counselors are a mixture of LCPs, LCASs and CSACs.
Extras
Renew offers individual family sessions with the client, counselor and their family members. Clients must initially request these meetings before the counselor can go ahead with scheduling them.
It also has DWI counseling services as well as an anger management program.
In Summary
Renew Counseling Center, Inc’s flexible outpatient program ensures that clients step down at a pace that works for them. The focus on life skills in the group meetings helps ensures that men and women leave treatment not only sober but also with the ability to lead a peaceful life in recovery. Also, the dual diagnosis capacity of the program provides a great deal of support for clients with potential co-occurring disorders.
