The Basics

Unity House of Cayuga County Sober Living is the sober living home operated by a non-profit mental and behavioral health treatment and service agency. Located in Auburn, New York, clients often step down to this facility following inpatient treatment at Unity House’s residential facility, Grace House, just 40 minutes outside of Syracuse. The sober living environment is a structured apartment setting with case management services to help residents establish a supportive and sober environment as they phase into a new chapter in their lives.

Accommodations and Amenities

Clients are accommodated in an apartment complex supervised by on-site case managers. Each of the apartments in the community remain available to residents until they demonstrate an ability to maintain sobriety and live independently outside of the community.

Apartments are furnished and have a living room with cable TV, a fully equipped kitchen and a small dining area. Each unit has two bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a balcony. The community also has plenty of parking as well as a play area for children. Residents also have access to medical care and 24/7 on-call staff.

Rules and Regulations

Residents of the Unity House sober living facility must adhere to an established set of rules and remain active in their recovery. Clients are required to attend on-site weekly group therapy and individual sessions are scheduled on the client’s own time but are still mandatory. Therapies utilize CBT, and random drug testing is performed to confirm that clients are committed to their recovery.

Residents are responsible for keeping their personal living spaces clean. Case management is also provided to clients, with staff helping to manage therapy appointments, coordinate outpatient care if needed, provide referrals and counsel in any way they can.

The staff at Unity House Sober Living consists of case managers and CSWs.

In addition to a structured sober living program, Unity House of Cayuga County also offers a variety of other health and wellness services to clients and the broader community. Mental health services, developmental disabilities services, nursing services, youth programs and residential treatment services are all available.
