Teras Counseling

The Basics

Teras Counseling is a grassroots non-profit organization that provides a variety of services and educational initiatives to individuals suffering from behavioral health issues. Located in Portland, Oregon, Teras offers both a basic outpatient and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to those seeking substance abuse treatment as well as DUI services, case management and anger management programs.

Treatment and Staff

After an initial interview, clients then participate in a thorough assessment to determine treatment goals and to develop an individualized treatment plan. There are no set guidelines or specific structure to treatment as each track is tailored to the unique needs of the client. Treatment modalities, frequency of sessions and the duration of the program may change based on how the client progresses through treatment.

Treatment incorporates individual and group therapy, family therapy, marriage therapy, psychiatric treatment, DUI evaluations and educational sessions. A combination of CBT and DBT are utilized and while the 12-steps are not integrated into the program, clients are encouraged to attend meetings outside of treatment.

The staff at TC consists of psychologists, LCSWs, LPCs, LMHCs and CADCs.

Extras

In addition to a comprehensive substance abuse treatment program, Teras also offers a domestic violence program, anger management and a special course for individuals convicted of a DUI or DWI.
