Greenridge Counseling Center

The Basics

Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Greenridge Counseling Center is an outpatient behavioral health facility operated by Intercommunity Action Inc. Treatment is available for both children and adults who are struggling with mental illness and/or substance abuse. Younger clients between the ages of four and 17 are eligible for a specialized program tailored to meet their unique needs, which often includes extensive family involvement.

Treatment and Staff

After an initial intake and biopsychosocial assessment, clients work with staff to develop individualized treatment plans. Though each program varies, treatment works within the structure of individual and group therapy (with couples and family therapy available as needed) using evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). The children’s programs also incorporate alternative modalities, such as play therapy. For clients with a dual diagnosis, medication management is offered. While 12-step participation is not a requirement, clients are encouraged to attend off-site meetings if they wish.

Staff consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, LCSWs, LPCs and Master’s-level clinicians.

Extras

Additional services include satellite locations at various schools in the Cook-Wissahickon, Levering, Dobson, Shawmont and Mifflin district, offering evaluations and counseling to children on-site. The facility’s blended case management program provides treatment and additional medical, financial and housing support to families. Through Intercommunity Action, Inc. clients can seek out programs for autism support, housing services for seniors and other behavioral health care options. Psychological and psychiatric evaluations are also available as standalone services.
