The Basics
Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) is a faith-based, non-profit organization aiming to provide social and behavioral health services. With several locations in and around Detroit, Michigan, clients have the option to choose the facility that best suits their recovery needs. DRMM offers both a male and female gender-specific and long-term residential substance abuse treatment program.
Accommodations and Food
Men enrolled in the inpatient treatment program are accommodated at the Christian Guidance Center, which has beds for 90 men. Women stay at Genesis House III, a 42-bed facility. Men and women both sleep in dormitory-like quarters with several beds per room and communal bathrooms. Food is served three times a day in a cafeteria and is typical American-fare with healthy options such as salads and vegetable dishes.
Treatment and Staff
The substance abuse treatment programs at DRMM are intended for men and women who have been referred by the courts system or other state or federal agencies. Treatment at DRMM is highly structured and consists of the same basic elements for all clients, but is individualized depending on specific needs or circumstances. Treatment plans consist of individual and group therapy, job training, assistance with legal services, relapse prevention, psychological evaluations and therapy and medical assessments and services. Specific needs are addressed in the initial assessment and plans are adjusted throughout treatment to accommodate progress.
Detox services are available and provided in an off-site facility. These services include medication management. DRMM is primarily a facility created for those with a sole diagnosis of chemical dependency or substance abuse but the appropriate referrals can be made for those suffering from co-occurring disorders. Twelve-step recovery is not facilitated during treatment but referrals can be made to local AA/NA meetings.
The staff at DRMM consists of LCSWs, LPCs, clinicians, CADCs and psychologists.
Extras
In addition to the comprehensive substance abuse treatment program, DRMM also has food banks for the homeless as well as shelter, housing, community support and transitional housing services.
In Summary
The substance abuse treatment programs at Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries are intended for men and women referred by an outside source who believe they are in need of a structured program that implements a variety of treatment components. This facility is an affordable option for adults struggling with addiction and alcoholism that incorporates traditional therapy and evidence-based methods.
