The Basics
Monarch, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 to provide residential addiction treatment services to women seeking recovery. Over time, it eventually added an outpatient program for men, women and children. Located in Muskogee, Oklahoma, clients are surrounded by a close-knit community of support and a network of professionals in nearby Tulsa. With a range of services that include support for co-occurring disorders, the Monarch network meets the diverse needs of the community.
Food and Accommodations
The residential accommodations are held in a small facility separate from treatment services and offices. There are typically three clients to a room with a shared closet and a dresser each. There is a central shared bathroom and a large living room with cable TV. There is also an exercise room with fitness machines and equipment as well as a fully equipped kitchen and dining area where clients eat three times a day. Special needs are accommodated with regards to dietary restrictions and allergies.
Treatment and Staff
The inpatient program for women typically lasts 90 days with some exceptions made. The program is highly structured and individualized to the needs of each client. A typical day at Monarch starts off with an early breakfast followed by the first group session at 8 am and the rest of the day is filled with hourly groups or therapy sessions and a daily 12-step meeting with breaks for lunch and dinner. On the weekends, recreation activities are planned, movies are made available, there are visitation hours, GED classes are offered and there are NA/AA meetings. The groups and therapy sessions during a weekday consist of individual therapy, parenting classes, relapse prevention, relationship building, family sessions, nutrition education, loss counseling, stress management, recovery skills and women’s issues.
The staff at Monarch consists of LCSWs, LPCs, case managers, LCDCs and a psychiatrist.
Extras
In addition to the women’s residential substance abuse treatment program, MI also offers treatment for a variety of other behavioral health problems. A sober living home for recovering women and their children, outpatient therapeutic services for men, women and children, marriage counseling, psychosocial counseling, parenting groups are all available.
