The Basics
Psychological Evaluation and Consulting Services is a network of outpatient private practices across the state of Wisconsin. With main headquarters located in Mequon, four additional facilities are found in Whitewater, Germantown, Hartford and Hales Corners. Each branch specializes in treatment for both mental health and chemical dependency. Services are available for those with DUI/DWI convictions and those requiring detox and dual diagnosis support. All staff operate their own private practices, but work as a team to provide cohesive and comprehensive support for each client. Incorporating evidence-based treatment methods, treatment is a holistic approach, helping each client recovery mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Treatment and Staff
Services are available for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families who are in need of mental health services. Each facility provides care for individuals struggling with chemical dependency, eating disorders, behavioral issues, trauma, domestic abuse and relationship issues. Prior to admission, all clients are seen by the intake staff for a bio-psycho-social assessment to determine the need for detox and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). PECS follows a client-centered and individualized treatment program. The family is highly involved and clients must remain abstinent during the entire treatment process with drug testing occurring weekly at the facility’s onsite laboratory.
PECS offers two different outpatient programs with enrollment determined by the client’s acuity and the level of care needed. Those enrolled in the SMART Recovery Program (Supervised Medication Assisted Recovery and Treatment) are monitored by doctors and nursing staff to ensure their Suboxone dosage is correct and helping. These clients must also attend required therapeutic activities which include group and individual therapy guided by experienced counselors familiar with addiction medicine. Groups include psycho-education classes and relapse prevention strategies.
All clients must also attend 12-step meetings to support their work in the treatment program. Family therapy sessions are included to ensure the support network is recovering alongside the primary client.
A 12-week Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) track is also available and must be attended three times per week. These clients also attend group and individual therapy as well as 12-step support meetings. Counselors utilize AA philosophies, CBT techniques and holistic treatment methods. Clients begin to learn about the process of addiction as well as meditation techniques and homework assignments are given to help them step into the recovery process. Families are also encouraged to attend therapy sessions.
A first-offender program is also available for adolescents and adults who have recently had issues with the law. The program is designed to avoid recidivism and develop self-awareness. Clients are assessed for co-occurring disorders and given guidance to re-enter the workforce or attend school. PECS works directly with the court system to provide assistance and to help guide them towards their recovery process.
All groups are led by a team of mental health professionals with credentials that include LCSWs, LADCs as well as Psychologists and Medical Doctors who specialize in addiction medicine.
Extras
In addition to chemical dependency treatment, PECS offers special programs for domestic violence perpetrators and victims. Treatment in this program includes standard therapeutic activities as well as community resources to follow up with. Clients and their families are encouraged to attend support groups and continue to seek counseling after they have completed treatment.

In addition to a solid IOP that uses evidence based methods of treatment, special programs are developed for clients in need of MAT, dual-diagnosis support and medication management.
