fellowship project incThe Basics

The Fellowship Project is a nonprofit that uses 12-step principles to help clients recover from addiction. Its inaugural program is Highland House, a sober living in Memphis, Tennessee. The program is for women who have completed inpatient or residential treatment and are looking for added support in a fellowship-oriented environment.

Accommodations and Amenities

Highland House accommodates up to seven women in a spacious one-story home. There are three bedrooms equipped with twin beds, ample storage space and plenty of natural light through large windows.

The home also comes with two full bathrooms that are shared among residents. There are two common areas, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a dining room and a washer and dryer available as well. One of the two common areas is a living room with large couches and a TV with cable. New clients are provided with bed linens, towels and laundry baskets. An experienced house manager lives on-site and is available to residents 24 hours a day. Residents are expected to provide their own food, though they have access to silverware, utensils and cooking supplies to prepare their meals.

Rules and Regulations

Highland House is a fairly relaxed environment and so does not place a particular emphasis on rules. Women are required to be courteous toward one and other and are expected to keep their  space in the house clean. Residents are also expected to submit to random drug testing. Attendance at a minimum of one AA meeting per week required. There is no room for judgment at Highland House; instead, clients are encouraged to build healthy, supportive bonds to properly heal.

In Summary

The program at Highland House requires residents to immerse themselves in the 12 steps. By adapting to the principles of the program, clients can find a place of support during a hard time at an affordable price.
