Parkridge ValleyThe Basics

Parkridge Valley’s Cleveland Outpatient Program, often referred to simply as the Cleveland Outpatient Program, offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that supports adults and adolescents struggling to recover from alcohol abuse and substance abuse disorders. It’s a part of the Parkridge Health System which has three locations throughout Chattanooga, Tennessee. Offerings range from treatment for children and adolescents struggling with mental health and behavioral issues, to seniors struggling to conquer alcohol and chemical addictions. The general approach to treatment involves extensive educational programs to inform clients and their families about the disease of addiction; developing family support systems; aftercare and, of course, therapy. The Cleveland Outpatient Program is dedicated to providing treatment in a private and caring setting.

Treatment and Staff

IOP treatment at Cleveland Outpatient Program begins with a complimentary assessment, in which the staff determines the client’s specific needs, develops an individualized treatment plan and arranges for when treatment will commence. IOP treatment consists of individual therapy, group therapy and psycho-educational classes. The therapy at Cleveland Outpatient Program is CBT-based. Most individual sessions are scheduled in one- to two-hour sessions and group sessions are similar in length. The frequency of therapy varies per client, but is always conducted within the regular business hours of Monday through Thursday from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm. Treatment for adolescent clients is conducted Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, so as not to interfere with the client’s educational schedule.

Clients are introduced and encouraged to participate in the 12-step process, and this is continued through the aftercare process, which occurs after a client has completed treatment. This aftercare process consists of a group therapy and support system that focuses on long-term recovery skills and relapse prevention.

The staff at Cleveland Outpatient Program is comprised of dedicated professionals who are licensed addiction counselors, social workers and certified mental health professionals who hold the credentials of LADC, LCDC, LCSW and LPN.

In Summary

Through educating the client about their addictions, conducting therapy and providing a support system post-treatment to support the client, PVCOP offers an intensive yet manageable and achievable path to recovery for those who seek it.
