The Basics
Samaritan Village is an expansive New York-based organization with over 40 locations—nine of which are outpatient facilities in the city—offering a range of social services, including counseling for drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
After an in initial assessment, staff counselors help new clients develop an individualized treatment plan for their specific needs. Programs are open to adults and adolescents and consist of individual and group therapy, with both day and evening sessions are available. Clients with a dual diagnosis engage in mental health counseling concurrent with substance abuse treatment. Groups provide trauma-informed care as well as Motivational Interviewing (MI) and CBT; covering topics like healthy parenting, social and life skills. Gender-specific groups are available when necessary. Attendance of off-site AA/NA meetings may be required for some individual plans.
The staff at every Samaritan Village location varies but often includes Master’s-level counselors, LSWs, CASACs, LCSWs and psychologists.
Extras
Clients who complete primary care have the option to transition to the aftercare program for continued success. Samaritan Village also offers DUI/DWI, anger and stress management classes, as well as HIV testing and vocational and educational assistance. On-site childcare is available to anyone attending treatment.
Additionally, Samaritan Village offers residential treatment programs and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the form of methadone, Suboxone and naltrexone.
In Summary
Because Samaritan Village is so large, the organization offers a competitive variety of services at affordable prices. Along side drug and alcohol addiction treatment, clients are given career assistance and childcare at a number of convenient locations throughout Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. With support for co-occurring disorders and an ongoing aftercare program, Samaritan Village remains a solid choice for outpatient treatment in NYC.
