EAC incThe Basics

EAC Network is a human service agency that offers over 70 programs to people of all ages throughout Long Island and New York City. While EAC has an array of services, their outpatient clinic in Hempstead, New York specifically assists clients seeking treatment for addiction. The program places an emphasis on treating women, the homeless, those with HIV/AIDS and clients with co-occurring disorders

Treatment and Staff

EAC provides an outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Clients at EAC work with counselors to develop individualized treatment plans to address specific problems and goals. These programs begin with a comprehensive evaluation, used to determine the frequency of group and individual counseling sessions each client attends per week.

The IOP treatment program consists of individual therapy, group therapy and educational classes. Gender-specific group sessions address sensitive issues like abuse, domestic violence and trauma. The group sessions are held three times a week for three hours each while individual sessions are once a week for an hour (though this depends on each client’s initial assessment).

Therapists and counselors at EAC use evidence-based practices in their program, including CBT and DBT. All clients are consistently monitored for progress and the staff doctor determines the length of the program for each case. In the outpatient program, individual and group therapy sessions are offered for four hours once a week each. For those with co-occurring disorders, a psychiatrist can be seen upon request for medication management.

The staff members at EAC Network are highly qualified psychiatrist, CSWs and LPCs. Though EAC does not offer detox or inpatient care, they can provide referrals if needed.

Extras

EAC also offers a drug court program which provides services for men and women with a behavioral health problems including substance abuse, mental health disorders and co-occurring disorders that have been charged with misdemeanor offenses and are eligible for local jail diversion through the courts. The program provides evidence-based case management for clients including screening, assessment, placement in treatment and additional services.

In Summary

Overall, EAC Network strives to understand the needs of each client by providing individualized care. The facility is perfect for those who need added support outside of a sober living environment.  Clients at EAC are provided a nice platform to connect with other addicts on a personal level for mutual support. It also provides one-on-one counseling sessions for more intimate issues. Regardless of income, EAC Network welcomes men and women from all walks of life.
