The Basics
Based in Hazard, Kentucky, Kentucky River Community Care offers a range of outpatient programs for chemical dependency. Headquartered in Hazard, the program has a number of locations throughout Kentucky with branches in Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley, Perry, Wolfe and Lexington counties.
Treatment and Staff
All programs cater to clients who have been court-ordered as a result of DUI offenses or other sentencing through drug court. The primary plan is a DUI program consisting of an assessment, 20 hours of pre-treatment and outpatient care, which involves a flexible schedule of educational classes, group and individual therapy utilizing CBT.
The drug court program includes assessments, referrals and consultations in addition to therapy. Comprehensive case management is also available. The early prevention program targets people under 21 who are being processed through the courts as a result of a DUI or other drug and alcohol offenses. This track aims to minimize recidivism by educating adolescents about risky behavior and helping to repair family relationships. If more intensive treatment is needed, referrals to residential programs can be made. While clients are encouraged to attend outside AA/NA meetings, they are not an intrinsic part of the any of the programs.
For less structured treatment, individual, group and family therapy are available as standalone services for children, adolescents and adults. Medication management is also available as needed.
Staff is comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, CSWs, LPCs and LCSWs. As a result, support clients with co-occurring disorders is available for all programs.
