The Basics
Baptist Health Recovery offers outpatient substance abuse treatment for adults aged 18 and above. Located at the newly renovated Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, this comprehensive outpatient program incorporates the 12 steps, clinical psychology and Christian Bible teachings for a holistic approach to healing and recovery. Baptist Health System has been delivering quality healthcare to the citizens of Arkansas for over 90 years and is the state’s most comprehensive healthcare system.
Treatment and Staff
Assessments are performed on a walk-in basis and free of charge. Once evaluated by a clinician, eligible clients are assigned to a primary therapist who they meet with weekly. Individuals with co-occurring disorders are also seen by a psychiatrist for any required medication management. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is 12 weeks in duration with group therapy meetings scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 am and Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 am. Individual therapy is one hour per week, with the remainder of treatment time in group therapy. Staff utilizes CBT to discuss topics such as alcohol and drug education, relapse prevention, identifying triggers, dealing with anxiety and depression along with 12-step study groups.
For those who cannot meet the demands of the IOP schedule or for those who are referred through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Baptist Health Recovery devises a less intensive program based on the clients work schedule. Group topics are similar to those in IOP with less frequent attendance. All groups are facilitated by LADCs, MFTs, Master’s-level therapists and psychiatrists.
Extras
Family therapy is available and consists of group sessions with the client, individual session for family members and family education classes. In addition, a 12-bed residential detox is available, located on the fourth floor of Baptist Health Medical Center.
As a branch of the Behavioral Health department at Baptist Health, clients enrolled in the Recover program will have easy access to additional services including general medical care, mental health counseling, geriatric behavioral health and “distance counseling”—a unique remote therapy service provided by a doctorate level therapist via video conferencing, email or telephone.
In Summary
Baptist Health Recovery offers comprehensive outpatient substance abuse treatment for adults residing in Little Rock and surrounding cities. Clients seeking a flexible and comprehensive program will benefit from daily groups using evidence based methods of treatment.
