The Basics
New Brunswick Counseling Center is an outpatient facility that provides substance abuse, mental health, and co-occurring disorders support to individuals over the age of 15. Located in Brunswick, New Jersey, NBCC offers Methadone maintenance and Suboxone services, various levels of outpatient substance abuse treatment and free HIV testing.
NBCC also operates Burlington Comprehensive Counseling, a Methadone maintenance clinic that combines Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with counseling services. Care options are available in varying levels of intensity and are flexible and affordable.
Treatment and Staff
Clients seeking treatment at NBCC must undergo an assessment to determine a proper level of care. Clients are then matched with a primary counselor that best suits their unique recovery needs. Those in need of dual diagnosis support have access to on-site psychiatric medication management services.
NBCCs drug-free program is open to all individuals aged 15 and over struggling with substance abuse and mental health disorders. Opiate dependent clients are enrolled in a separate program. The drug free program consists of three levels of care; the first level takes place over the course of four to six weeks and includes one individual therapy session a week for an hour at a time. Those in the second Level of care are provided six to 12 weeks of treatment during which they attend one group and one individual session each week for an hour. Lastly, the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meets on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for three hours at a time. Individual therapy sessions in the IOP are scheduled as needed. Group sessions cover topics such as relapse prevention, the disease of addiction, co-occurring disorders, anger management and coping skills.
MAT for clients in need of opioid addiction support includes Methadone or Suboxone services and are monitored by a medical doctor along with substance abuse education courses for court-ordered clients. These clients are concurrently enrolled in an IOP that includes nine hours of group therapy a week and individual sessions as needed. There is also a less intensive track that only requires attendance of one individual session each week for an hour at a time. Therapists focus on addressing stress, depression, triggers and social skills.
Staff members include LPCs and LADCs trained in evidence-based techniques like CBT and DBT. In addition, there are clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and registered nurses.
Extras
HIV testing is available for all clients enrolled in treatment at NBCC. Those who test positive for HIV have access to one specialized on-site support group a week.
Additionally, family therapy is scheduled as needed.
Summary
At New Brunswick Counseling Center, individuals in need of dual-diagnosis and substance abuse treatment services have access to basic and intensive outpatient programs. The qualified team of professionals provide evidence-based recovery and comprehensive personalized treatment. With additional services including MAT and HIV testing, NBCC is a solid community resource.
