Ionia MichiganThe Basics

Ionia County Substance Abuse Initiative provides outpatient treatment to adults living in Iona, Michigan. Services are tailored to women who are pregnant, postpartum or who are involved with Foster Care and Children’s Protective Services. Treatment is also available for men who have custody of children under the age of 18. ICSAI clients have access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), comprehensive assessments, individual and group therapy sessions and on-site 12-step support group meetings.

Treatment and Staff

Upon beginning treatment at ICSAI, clients must complete a thorough assessment with a clinician after which they work with a therapist to develop an individualized treatment plan. Those in need of MAT receive Suboxone services from credentialed staff.

Treatment is available to all adults aged 18 and older in need of mental health and substance abuse support. Currently, treatment options include one-on-one therapy sessions scheduled two to three times a week for an hour at a time. Sessions are catered to each individual’s primary needs with a focus on the disease of addiction and co-occurring disorders. Group sessions are led by CADCs and focus on relapse prevention and trauma. Family therapy is also implemented when needed.

Staff members include CADCs trained in evidence-based techniques like CBT and DBT.

Extras

All clients are highly encouraged to attend weekly support group meetings. On-site SMART recovery, NA and Families Anonymous meetings are regularly scheduled. The Families Anonymous meeting takes place every other Monday from 6 to 7:30 pm and the SMART recovery group is Wednesdays at the same time. Clients are referred to local community AA meetings upon request.

Parenting classes are also scheduled weekly for hour-long sessions. These classes address issues such as parenting wisely and communication skills. Case management services are also available for families with children.

In Summary

At Iona County Substance Abuse Initiative, underprivileged adults with children are offered professional support to begin their journey to recovery from addiction. It’s a good option for those seeking non-acute care in an outpatient setting. In general, treatment is flexible, affordable, and consistent.
