Hidden Springs Counseling Center

The Basics

Located in Lenoir, North Carolina, Hidden Springs Counseling Center offers treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues. Outpatient programs are available for both adults and adolescents ages 13 and up. Services include assessments as well as individual, group and family therapy. Using evidence-based methods, clients participate in traditional therapy to develop a foundation of recovery.

Treatment and Staff

Prior to beginning treatment, each client must undergo an initial evaluation. In addition to treatment for substance abuse, support for co-occurring disorders is also available. Issues that are commonly treated include anxiety, depression, grief, loss, marital issues, childhood trauma and abuse. Detox and residential programs are not available.

Individual sessions are each an hour long, covering topics such as coping skills and relapse prevention as well as mental health when necessary. Through the use of CBT and DBT, clients work to change their negative thought patterns. The frequency of individual therapy depends on the individual, though typically clients attend these sessions once a week. In addition to individual sessions, clients can come in for family or couples therapy as well. Group therapy also meets once a week with topics that may include relapse prevention, life skills, coping mechanisms and processing. These sessions are generally done in conjunction with individual therapy, though programs are individualized. All treatment at Hidden Springs Counseling Center is led by Mike Goudelock, a Master’s-level therapist who specializes in substance abuse, mental health and marital issues. Groups never exceed 12 clients at once.

Hidden Springs Counseling Center offers a variety of treatment services for substance abuse. While the practice is small and primarily treats through one-on-one sessions, the facility still offers flexible scheduling and the basic necessities for clients to learn about recovery with the opportunity to attend groups. Thanks to small groups and individualized attention, each person receives the care that they need with special attention on co-occurring disorders.
