clinton illinoisThe Basics

Located in Clinton, Illinois, Dewitt County Human Resource Center provides crisis intervention and outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment. The addiction treatment program is non-intensive and caters to adults seeking added support during recovery. Treatment includes group and individual therapy sessions along with medication management for those with a dual diagnosis.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment at Dewitt begins with an assessment to determine each individual’s recovery needs. Following the assessment, clients work with a clinician to develop an individualized treatment plan that establishes the frequency of group and individual sessions. Those in need of support for co-occurring disorders have access to on-site medication management.

There is no pre-determined length of treatment at Dewitt, though clients can attend up to three two-hour group therapy sessions a week. Group sessions are scheduled on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6 to 8 pm and on Fridays from 10 am to noon. During groups, an intern or a qualified mental health professional discusses topics such as coping skills, anger management, the disease of addiction and relapse prevention. Groups are typically kept small with client-to-staff ratio typically maxing out at one-to-eight per session. Aside from group sessions, individual sessions are also available. These are usually an hour long and are scheduled on a case-by-case basis. Staff members consist of interns and Master’s-level counselors who are trained in evidence-based modalities like CBT and DBT.

Extras

Mental health support is available for clients of all ages as well as a crisis intervention phone line for at-risk individuals. Immediate support is available during the day while evening and overnight calls are covered by an answering service. Crisis counselors return calls within 15 minutes for over-the-phone support and within an hour for in-person assistance.

Training and employment services for individuals with intellectual disabilities are also provided. Those in the developmental training program attend training activities Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. There are also employment services which include skill development support and job coaching.

Kleemann is a supportive housing facility for individuals with mental illnesses requiring more structured support. Permanent and short-term residence are available in this apartment complex with a focus on independent living in a structured environment with a live-in manager and case management.

In Summary

At Dewitt County Human Resource Center, adults struggling with mental illness and chemical dependency are provided a basic outpatient program with support for those with dual diagnosis issues. The facility also provides a range of additional community-oriented services, as well as supportive housing. While it may not be the best option for those in need of acute or primary care, Dewitt County Human Resource Center is worth considering for those needing flexible non-intensive treatment.
