Affiliated with Tiger Mountain Recovery, Inc., The Henry House provides sober living for women in Henryetta, Oklahoma. This long-term program helps those already in recovery to continue on the sober path. Residents participate in frequent 12-step meetings and are also required to obtain employment or volunteer work. Through accountability and community living, residents learn to thrive in recovery.

Accommodations and Amenities

The Henry House program accommodates women in a five-bedroom home. Residents share their rooms with one other client for a total of 10 clients at a time. Each bedroom is furnished with twin-sized beds with bedding provided. The home also provides shared bathrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining room and a cozy living room with TV. Wireless internet, a private phone line and laundry are also included.

The women shop for their own food and prepare their own meals, taking turns in the kitchen. All the necessary cooking utensils, flatware and cleaning supplies are provided. During free time, residents can workout at the local gym just two blocks away, though memberships are not included.

Rules and Regulations

Typically, clients complete residential treatment before entering The Henry House. The program offers long-term care, with average stays between six and 12 months long. Clients are expected to begin looking for employment as soon as they enter the house. If they are not actively looking for work or already employed, they are required to volunteer. Staff are available to provide assistance with preparing resumes and applying for jobs.

While living at the Henry House, all women are expected to live harmoniously, work the steps and stay sober at all times. Clients are subject to random drug and alcohol tests and must attend at least five AA/NA meetings per week. They are also required to obtain a sponsor. Both on- and off-site meetings are available.

Attendance of weekly house meetings are mandatory as well. Residents check in and discuss upcoming events and house projects. Smoking is permitted on the porch, and laptops and cellphones are also permitted. The home is overseen by a house manager who lives two houses down.

In Summary

The Henry House offers an intimate sober living environment for women with established sobriety. By keeping one another accountable and attending frequent 12-step meetings, the women who participate learn to become independent and responsible. While the program is somewhat limited to the necessities, Henry House remains an affordable option for those transitioning out of Tiger Mountain’s primary care program, or for women in Oklahoma seeking an affordable sober living environment.
