Located in Chesapeake, Virginia, Chesapeake Treatment Center offers quality treatment for those suffering from opiate addiction. This outpatient facility provides evaluations as well as individual, group and family therapy. All treatment uses a mixture of evidence-based therapies and the 12 steps to help clients towards a life of sobriety.
Treatment and Staff
Following an initial evaluation, clients can begins treatment at Chesapeake Treatment Center as soon as there is space available. For those struggling with opiates, this facility offers medication-assisted treatment using methadone. Clients will come to the facility for regular dosing, having medication levels adjusted by the medical staff. The goal is to stabilize each client within 60 days of entering the program.
Clients must attend treatment on a daily basis. Individual therapy occurs weekly, giving clients complete individualized attention. Working closely with their counselor, the client is able to get to the root of their issues. Groups run for two hours, focusing on topics such as coping skills, relapse prevention, anger management, an introduction to the 12 steps and life skills. Evidence based therapies employed include CBT. This setting creates peer bonding and the ability to process with like minded individuals. Since isolation is a common aspect of addiction, clients benefit from being with others. They are also encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings during their free time, though these are not required.
The staff consists of LADCs, nurses and MDs. The program is extremely large, usually containing 200 clients at a time. Groups max out at 20 clients at a time.
Extras
This facility also offers a chance for family involvement. Through family therapy, clients and their loved ones can work on establishing healthy boundaries and also have a chance to process emotions in a safe space.
