Lakeside Family Therapy Services

The Basics

Since 1982, Lakeside Family Therapy Services has been providing outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling to clients in Racine, Wisconsin. Their treatment services include individual therapy using evidence-based psychotherapies such as CBT and DBT. Treatment is available to adolescents, adults, families and couples in need of a safe and comfortable space to recover from addiction.

Treatment and Staff

Upon beginning treatment at Lakeside Family Therapy Services, clients must undergo an initial assessment. Following their assessment, clients are matched with one of several CSACs who best suits their needs. The counselor then works with each client to create an individualized treatment plan which determines the frequency and duration of treatment. On-site medication management services are not available though referrals can be provided when needed. No group therapy is offered at Lakeside. 

Clients in treatment at Lakeside Family Therapy Services are scheduled for individual therapy sessions Mondays through Fridays during regular business hours. Exceptions can be made to accommodate unusual schedules. Each session is typically 45 minutes to an hour long. During these meetings, counselors offer a holistic approach to treatment by focusing on the psychical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual health of each person. This is accomplished through a traditional talk therapy approach using CBT and DBT. Topics discussed include the disease of addiction, relapse prevention, eating disorders, gambling, stress management, anger management, depression, anxiety and coping skills.

In addition, counselors also offer aftercare planning for when treatment ends. This includes setting vocational goals, providing financial advice and encouraging 12-step participation. Referrals to local support group meetings like AA/NA are provided upon request. Staff members at LFTS include LCSWs, CSAC, MSWs, and LPCs

Extras

Families and couples’ counseling services are also available on a case-by-case basis. These services are usually led by an MFT or CSW with years of experience in dealing with marital and relationship issues. There are also child and adolescent services available to those ages 3 and up. Along with traditional talk therapy, these services can include art and play therapy as well.
