The Basics

Conifer Park is a substance abuse treatment organization which offers a variety of services. There are outpatient clinics located in Troy, Glen Falls, Schenectady, Syracuse, Plattsburgh and Rochester, New York. The facilities provide structured treatment plans to adults struggling with chemical dependency and mental health disorders. Treatment options include an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and specialized groups for those with co-occurring disorders. 

Treatment and Staff

Treatment begins with an intake evaluation with a therapist, after which clients develop personalized treatment plans. Within the treatment plan, clients set goals and establish a specific duration for treatment. Frequency of group and individual therapy sessions vary depending on whether a client is placed in IOP or the dual-diagnosis focus groups.

The IOP groups meet three times a week for three hours at a time. These are held from 9 am to noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. An LADC leads each of these three hour-long sessions, discussing topics such as the disease of addiction, early intervention, relapse prevention, family dynamics, anger management and coping skills.

For those seeking dual-diagnosis support, there is a program available that meets Monday through Thursday from 9 to 10:30 am, or from 10:30 am to noon. These groups have rotating topics, with a focus on the issues underlying addiction. Groups in the dual diagnosis program start by discussing trauma, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, untreated ADHD and depression. Individual therapy sessions are offered twice a month for about an hour long per session.

Participation in a 12-step program is not mandatory, though AA/NA meetings are strongly encouraged. There are no on-site meetings available but staff members can provide local meeting directories upon request. Staff members at CCS include LADCs and LPCs that use evidence-based modalities including CBT and DBT.

Extras

Conifer Park offers a variety of treatment programs in addition to outpatient care that provide a full spectrum of services. These include detox, inpatient care for adolescents and adults and family counseling.

Conifer Park has a partnership with American Mobile Dental Associates. Dental services are brought directly to clients on campus and delivered from a fully equipped van including x-ray facilities and a full dental staff. The van is available on a weekly basis by appointment scheduled through the nursing staff. Most dental insurance plans, including Medicaid, cover these services.
