The Gate Lodge

The Basics

Located in Vero Beach, Florida, The Gate Lodge is the smallest co-ed residential treatment center offered by Origins Behavioral Healthcare. With other residential facilities in nearby West Palm Beach and South Padre Island, Texas, Origins operates each center alongside specialized treatment clinics. The Gate Lodge program is designed for clients that have a significant risk for relapse, or have tried treatment before without success.

Accommodations and Food

The 20-bed treatment center accommodates men and women in gender-separated rooms. Private rooms are available at extra cost, and all rooms are furnished with twin beds, storage spaces and fresh linens. Clients are able to enjoy the garden and gather by the gazebo, or in one of the cozy meeting rooms. Meals are prepared on-site by a Chef, who caters to dietary requirements and individual tastes.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment at Gate Lodge consists of a structured 12-step-based program that lasts 28 days. Clients are required to attend daily on-site meetings, as well as complete 12-step and writing assignments work with a sponsor. This immersive program is aimed at clients that have not achieved their goal of long-term sobriety. Clients are supervised and required to meet specific goals. Most often, clients are asked to complete as many of the 12 Steps with their sponsor during treatment as possible.

In addition to 12-step work, clients attend group therapy daily and individual therapy weekly. Group sessions cover individual issues, psychoeducation and relapse prevention. Treatment employs the same modalities as other Origins treatment centers. Clients participate in CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), as well as trauma treatment for those with PTSD, if appropriate.

Clients in need of medically monitored detox are supervised continuously through this period, and medication management is available for clients with co-occurring disorders. LADCs facilitate groups, as well as supervise treatment plans and goals. Additionally, Master’s-level therapists and psychiatrists conduct individual sessions as well as supervise medical needs.

Extras

All residents have access to a state-of-the-art fitness center three days a week.

Upon completing the program, clients may be referred to outpatient services in lieu of aftercare or transitional housing programs that can assist in maintaining their recovery. A strong community of alumni exists, with newsletters and activities frequently organized. This provides an excellent way to remain connected to a community of sober people.

In Summary

The Gate Lodge offers a particular method of treatment, focusing mostly on 12-step work. While some may not choose this highly structured environment, the supportive, community focus is beneficial to many. Additionally, belonging to the larger Origin network of recovery centers allows clients access to a multitude of resources and therapeutic modalities they might not otherwise enjoy.
